Bukayo Saka forced off with injury after just 10 minutes in brutal Arsenal injury blow

Arsenal have been dealt an injury blow with Bukayo Saka limping off just ten minutes into their clash with Bayern Munich.

The Gunners endured a nightmare start to their Champions League showdown in Germany when their star man went down, despite not appearing to be under any pressure.

With the score at 0-0, Saka pulled up after attempting to play a crossfield ball.

He immediately went to ground and indicated that he was unable to continue as medics came on to assess him.

Saka had been unchallenged when making the pass, and replays appeared to show the 25-year-old kicking the turf before clutching his thigh as he went to ground.

In a major blow to Arsenal, the winger then limped off the pitch, and was replaced by Eberechi Eze.

This marked a far from ideal start to the Champions League league phase clash, with the Gunners bidding for a big result away to the German champions.

Although Saka's replacement made the most of his unexpected introduction by giving Arsenal the lead on 25 minutes.

Latching onto a ball over the top, Eze rifled it into the bottom right hand corner of goal with his left foot; the goal being given after a VAR review with Eze initially being flagged offside.

This saw the England international deliver an immediate response after being hauled off at half-time in Arsenal's win at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

But Arsenal's lead was short-lived, as Alphonso Davies equalised for Bayern 10 minutes later.

The Canadian latched onto an inch-perfect through ball from Ballon d'Or candidate Harry Kane before slotting past David Raya.

While the Gunners attack also took the hit via Saka’s injury, hosts Bayern were without Michael Olise and Luis Diaz from the start.

The German giants endured something of an upset in their last Champions League outing, when they were held to a 3-3 draw by Norwegian outfit Viking.

Having been 2-0 down after 38 minutes, a double from Kane ensured that Bayern avoided a shock defeat.

The dramatic clash saw Olise sent off for picking up two yellow cards in the space of 30 seconds, hence his absence in the Arsenal game.

Saka concern

Saka's early end to the night comes as a huge worry to both Arsenal and England.

The Gunners star has made 10 appearances in all competitions at club level this season, scoring four goals and assisting once.

But with Saka also a regular starter for England, Thomas Tuchel will be hoping his injury isn't serious enough to rule him out of the upcoming November internationals.

The Three Lions face Croatia and Spain in their final two Nations League group stage fixtures in just three weeks time.

Saka started in three of England's four games in the previous international break, and scored a double in the 7-0 thumping of Croatia.
