Man United outcast Andre Onana concedes directly from a corner - after Mo Salah stunner had put their Trabzonspor side in control of Conference League clash

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana conceded a goal directly from a corner in the Conference League on Thursday night.

The 30-year-old, who is still contracted to United but on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, was playing in his side's European game against Kuopion Palloseura of Finland.

His side started well, with former Southampton forward Paul Onuachu putting them ahead in the third minute of the game as Thomas Reis's side looked to start the competition on a positive note.

Then, in the 44th minute, Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah, who moved to Turkey in the summer after leaving the Reds, made it 2-0 with a fine finish to pick up his eighth goal of the season in ten games.

The forward ran onto a blocked shot that was bouncing in the box, and finished high with the inside of his left foot to seemingly put the game beyond the hosts.

Franculino Dju then made it three just after the break, but veteran Petteri Pennanen got his side back into it with the help of Onana's error.

The midfielder put in a corner minutes after his side went 3-0 down, and Onana jumped but was unable to keep the effort out of the goal.

The Manchester United loanee lay on the floor as his team-mates walked away, and had to gather himself for the rest of the game.

He would concede again just before full-time, with the game ending 4-2.

United fans rushed to social media to give their verdicts, with one fan writing on X: 'Do not miss this man, no matter how bad we are.'

Another wrote: 'Nice to see he is still an absolute liability.'

A third added: 'One of the worst goalkeepers I have seen.'

Onana is rebuilding his career out in Turkey after a calamitous spell at United – who he joined in 2023 – which resulted in him losing his place and, eventually, being loaned out.

His wages are not being covered by the Red Devils, and it is expected he will leave permanently either this summer or when his contract expires in 2028.

It has been a mixed season for Trabzonspor so far, having been knocked out of the Europa League in the play-offs and thus dropping into the Conference League.

Trabzonspor are currently fifth in the league table after seven games, having won four of their matches so far.

Onana has formed an unlikely friendship with Salah, who has been an instant hit with the club's fans.
