Amorim discusses post Man Utd growth and Bournemouth challenge: “Fight for victory”

AC Milan play their third game in the Europa League tonight, travelling to face Bournemouth and Ruben Amorim has spoken this afternoon.

This is a big game for Milan, with a win taking them a long way toward being able to secure a top eight spot in the Europa League’s League Phase. However, it may be an even bigger game for Amorim, who is back in England for the first time – competitively, at least – since leaving Manchester United.

The English press are not alone in their intrigue in this fixture, and however the game goes, there will be things said on social media about Amorim’s Rossoneri side and how they compare to his former club.

So, a strong performance is needed there too; if not, it adds unnecessary pressure.

Amorim speaks

Speaking to TNT this afternoon, Amorim answered questions about the game itself and his growth since leaving Manchester United, as PianetaMilan relayed.

“You could say that tonight’s game is only Bournemouth’s third European match in their history. But they play in the Premier League and face rivals like Manchester City and Arsenal every week, so they’re absolutely used to big matches.

“I both hate and love playing in a stadium like this, because it confirms that you’re competing against the best clubs. They play well and create a great atmosphere. Over the past year, they’ve stood out for their incredible pace on the pitch and have been the fastest team in the league.

“We know all this, but we came here to fight for victory.”

Leaving Manchester…

“Since leaving Manchester United, I’ve obviously been through a different period and situation in my life. I feel like a better coach, not because I’ve changed clubs, but because I’ve made peace with my last experience, and I’m very excited about this new experience at AC Milan.

“When you start a new journey, you can find the right peace of mind and move forward. That’s why I’m grateful for everything that’s happened: it’s brought me this far, and today I’m truly happy.”
