The Denver Broncos got a good look at Jahdae Barron and Kris Abrams-Draine when starting cornerbacks Pat Surtain and Riley Moss were both injured this season.
Barron, the team's first-round pick in last year's NFL draft, looks like he's ready for a starting role. KAD, meanwhile, is too talented to be a fifth-choice cornerback.
Meanwhile, Ja'Quan McMillian and Moss are both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents in 2027. If the Broncos have to choose between them, re-signing McMillian — one of the best nickelbacks in the NFL — feels like a no-brainer, especially with Barron available to replace Moss.
And if the plan is to let Moss walk in free agency next spring, trading him now might make sense for Denver.
The Broncos are in win-now mode, though, so the team probably wants to keep its strong depth in the secondary (especially after going through a stretch with multiple starters sidelined at the same time). A second-round pick might be difficult to turn down, but it's hard to imagine another team offering that. A third-round pick probably wouldn't make sense for Denver given that there's at least a chance of getting a third-round compensatory pick if Moss walks in free agency.
So, Moss seems like an unlikely trade candidate. The NFL's trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 10. We will track all of the latest news and rumors on Broncos Wire.
