Jasmine Jasudavicius returns to the UFC Octagon on Saturday for her 13th fight in the promotion, in what could be a number one contender fight.

This Saturday, the premier MMA promotion returns to Canada for UFC Edmonton, headlined by a welterweight clash between Joaquin Buckley and Mike Malott.

In the co-main event, Jasmine Jasudavicius returns to action for the second time this year when she takes on former title challenger, Erin Blanchfield.

With a win over ‘Cold Blooded’ Blanchfield, the Canadian star could find herself on the precipice of a women’s flyweight title fight against Natalia Silva.

Jasudavicius reveals she was fined $10,000 in her last fight for rule break

‘Jazzy J’ last fought this past April when she bounced back from her loss against Manon Fiorot with a unanimous decision over Karine Silva. Despite her win, though, Jasudavicius risked her win being overturned as she fought the fight with a ‘prohibited product’ in her mouth.

Fans debated whether it was a piece of chewing gum or a nicotine pouch in her mouth, and after the debate surfaced online, it began being investigated by the Athletic Commission. Jasudavicius addressed the nicotine pouch rumor by claiming that it was chewing gum in her mouth and not a stimulant.

It was then announced a few months ago that Jasudavicius received a maximum fine for a ‘safety violation’, after fighting with the piece of gum in her mouth. At the time, the amount of money she was fined wasn’t revealed in the letter, but ahead of her return, the 37-year-old has revealed how much she was fined.

“I got frickin fined that last frickin card, I got fined because everyone thought I had a (nicotine pouch) in my mouth, I had gum, they charged me frickin $10,000,” Jasudavicius told Full Send MMA. “They actually charged me, check my frickin bank account, I was so frustrated. I told them, I said, ‘Hey it fell out on the mat, go and get it, that’s the evidence, peppermint gum, man, go and check it and do whatever you want with it.’ I’m never chewing gum again, man,” she continued.

What rule did Jasudavicius actually break?

While the Canadian star will argue that the fine was unfair, she did in fact break the rule regarding having foreign objects in her mouth during a fight. The letter stated that ‘An unauthorized foreign object was present’, while they were unable to confirm what it was and whether it had a performance advantage.

That is why the decision wasn’t overturned, potentially letting Jasudavicius off lucky. Bizarrely, UFC legend Benson Henderson used to fight in the promotion with a tooth pick in his mouth. After he left the promotion he revealed that during most of his fights, he would be biting down on a tooth pick, which was a deep-rooted habit from his sparring days.
