Neil Lennon's men, beaten in last season's showpiece, discovered who they will open their campaign in this season's competition against after this evening's third round draw.
And it has paired them with the League One Doonhamers - who they also faced at this stage of last term's tournament.
The 10 SPFL Championship and League One clubs enter the cup at the third round stage, with the ties picked out by Scott Bain, who was in goal for Falkirk as they fell to the Pars in last season's memorable semi-final at Hampden.
He drew out Athletic to make the trip to Palmerston, a year on from when the teams met at KDM Group East End Park, where Chris Kane's double overturned John Tod's own goal to give Lennon's side a 2-1 victory.

Thereafter, they saw off Hibernian, Kelty Hearts, Aberdeen, and Falkirk, before losing out to Celtic in May's final.
The match will also present an opportunity for goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet, who left East End in the summer after five years with the club, and forward, Connor Young, who exited in September, for swift reunions with their former side.
The third round of this season's Scottish Cup is due to be played over the weekend of Saturday November 28.
