Legendary quarterback Tom Brady is set to return to Foxborough for the New England Patriots’ Week 9 clash against the Green Bay Packers. Brady will call his first game at Gillette Stadium for Fox Sports in what promises to be an emotional return for the icon who helped establish the Patriots as a true blue dynasty alongside coach Bill Belichick.

This week, Brady addressed the emotional aspect of the occasion as he returns to the stadium where he became one of the most recognizable names on the planet.

Tom Brady Addresses Emotional New England Return

During an appearance on Tuesday’s segment of “The Herd” with host Colin Cowherd, Brady spoke about the Patriots organization in glowing terms and detailed how he would approach calling the game without making it about himself.

“It will be certainly emotional; every inch of that stadium I’ve been through so many times, from the locker rooms to the meeting rooms, the fields,” Brady said.

“Just so many memorable plays in that stadium. Big games, championship games, rivalry games, division-clinching games. So to be back there and to really understand what that Patriot organization is all about and to convey that to the fans in a way I’m not talking about myself.

“I’m really talking about this awesome program that’s been built, and the Patriots always seem to do things the right way. Last year, the Super Bowl kind of came out of nowhere. Such a terrible season the year before. Coach (Mike) Vrabel comes in and really resets the entire environment.”

Brady was selected No. 199 overall by the Patriots in the 2000 NFL Draft and is still the greatest draft steal of all time, given his body of work. After rising from the fourth-string quarterback in his rookie season, Brady took over the starting duties from Drew Bledsoe midway through his sophomore season and never looked back.

In 20 seasons in New England, the four-time Super Bowl MVP led the Patriots to 17 division titles, nine AFC conference titles, an undefeated regular season in 2007 and six Super Bowl championships.

The Fox Sports color commentator will return to Foxborough on a special weekend. His former teammate Rob Gronkowski will be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 7, before receiving another tribute during halftime of Sunday’s Packers game.

“I love this game. It’s a great AFC-NFC matchup. These don’t happen very often,” Brady added. “Again, I get to be there to watch it in person in front of a friendly home crowd. I’m very, very excited.”

The 15-time Pro Bowler also cemented himself as a global icon during his stint in New England, winning three NFL MVP Awards, two NFL Offensive Player of the Year Awards, and earning three First-team All-Pro and three Second-team All-Pro nods.

Brady was also named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade team and the 2010s All-Decade team before he left New England.

After leaving New England, Brady won his seventh and final Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2020 season.
