Kylian Mbappé became the youngest player in history to reach 100 Champions League appearances, hitting the milestone at 27 years old during Real Madrid's fixture against Roma on Wednesday.
The French superstar celebrated the achievement by scoring a first-half equalizer in a thrilling match that Madrid ultimately won 4-3, sealed by a late three-goal blitz in a seven-minute span.
Lionel Messi held the previous record, reaching a century of appearances at 28 years old against Roma in September 2015.
Starting at center forward under manager José Mourinho at the Stadio Olimpico, Mbappé netted his 72nd Champions League goal, surpassing former Real Madrid icon Raúl González to take sole possession of fifth place on the tournament's all-time scoring list.
The goal follows his opening strike in Madrid's 2-1 victory over Inter Milan last month.
Mbappé made his Champions League debut with Monaco as a 17-year-old in September 2016. He finished as the competition's top scorer last season with 15 goals, a campaign highlighted by the second-fastest hat-trick in Champions League history against Olympiacos, where he scored three times in six minutes and 42 seconds.
