Rugby Africa has confirmed the pools for the 2026 Africa Women’s Sevens, with Kenya set to host the continental showpiece at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi on November 7–8, 2026.
Hosts Kenya have been drawn in Pool B alongside Tunisia, Ghana and Egypt as the Lionesses as seek to reclaim the African crown.
Kenya are the only team in their pool to have previously won the Africa Women’s Sevens title, lifting the trophy in 2018 after defeating Uganda 29-7 in the final in Gaborone, Botswana.
The Lionesses will also enter the 2026 tournament looking to go one step further than last year. Kenya finished runners-up in the 2025 edition on home soil, losing 22-0 to South Africa in the final at the RFUEA Grounds.
South Africa, meanwhile, headline Pool A alongside Zambia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda. The Springbok Women’s Sevens are the undisputed giants of the competition.
Their victory over Kenya in the 2025 final secured a record-extending 13th Africa Women’s Sevens title, while also completing a hat-trick of consecutive championships wins over Kenya.
South Africa’s dominance has been remarkable, with Kenya’s 2018 triumph and Tunisia’s 2012 victory the only occasions on which the South Africans have failed to lift the continental crown in the tournaments they have contested.
