Emiliano Martinez (Chelsea)

The Chelsea goalkeeper ended Saturday afternoon in hospital for scans on what was revealed to be a fractured jaw, but that brave intervention followed several saves to provide the basis for victory.

Josh Acheampong (Chelsea)

The young defender was another key contributor to Chelsea’s first clean sheet of the Premier League season, as well as getting forward down the right to support the attack.

Victor Lindelof (Aston Villa)

The Sweden international hit double figures for clearances as he and Villa repelled everything Newcastle threw at them.

Gabriel (Arsenal)

Also made a string of clearances and was credited with blocking three shots – and was unfortunate when team-mate Ezri Konsa unwittingly did likewise to keep out Gabriel’s sharp backheel at the other end.

Victor Munoz (Liverpool)

The winger produced an all-action display including a crucial equaliser, which came after he had been forced to fill in at right-back following Jeremie Frimpong’s injury.

Johan Manzambi (Aston Villa)

Headed in Joao Gomes’ excellent cross for his third goal in four games as he continues to quickly justify the club-record fee that brought him from Freiburg this summer.

Diego Gomez (Brighton)

The Paraguayan produced the champagne moment of Brighton’s latest statement win, sending a shot from the halfway line arcing over Walter Benitez for one of three Brighton goals inside the first 10 minutes.

Pedro Neto (Chelsea)

After spending the early part of the season adapting to a wing-back role, the Portuguese thrived in his new position on Saturday and made Everton pay with a brace.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Leeds)

Leeds’ third draw in their last five Premier League meetings with fierce rivals Manchester United owed much to the efforts of their target man – chiefly through his thumping finish from a corner early in the second half.

Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Two trademark goals – a powerful header and a predatory left-foot finish after outmuscling a defender – and was only denied a hat-trick by an offside flag against Enzo Fernandez. Amid the financial charges and hostile atmospheres facing City, the Norwegian simply keeps on scoring.

Evanilson (Bournemouth)

Laid on the first goal for Marcus Tavernier, pressured Sunderland defender Kevin Danso into a red-card offence and then sat goalkeeper Robin Roefs down to score the second in a relentless display of front-running.
