Manchester United XI vs Como: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Champions League today
Michael Carrick press conference after Leeds vs Manchester United

Manchester United had a potential selection crisis for their encounter with Como in the Champions League this evening.

Under-fire manager Michael Carrick is without nine senior players for matchday three of this season’s league phase.

A 1-1 draw with Leeds on Sunday made it six matches without a win for Man Utd, ramping up the pressure on Carrick in the Old Trafford hotseat.

Man United’s last foray into continental competition was tumultuous to say the least - a 2-0 defeat by Atletico Madrid that saw Leny Yoro dismissed before Lisandro Martinez took aim at technical director Jason Wilcox in his post-match interview.

Despite the outburst, Martinez started Man Utd’s ‘Roses derby’ with Leeds at the weekend, only to be forced off at the break due to a thigh injury. As such, the Argentine international is ruled out here.

Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw and Ayden Heaven all missed the draw with Leeds. Marcus Rashford was named on the bench but did not make an appearance, with the England international joining the aforementioned trio and Martinez in missing open training on Tuesday morning.

The quartet are all not named in the matchday squad.

Other missing players included longer-term absentees Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte.

Yoro, of course, will play no part due to suspension and is replaced by Noussair Mazraoui.

Matthijs de Ligt comes into central defence for the first time in nearly a year.

In midfield, it’s the Youri Tielmans and Andrey Santos once more, joined by Mason Mount.

Bruno Fernandes gets a free role alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

Man Utd XI: Lammens, Mazraoui,De Ligt, Maguire, Dalot, Tielemans, Santos; Mbeumo, Mount, Fernandes; Cunha
