Tottenham Hotspur have a new competitor in the race for one of their top striker targets, and the North London club have just been told how much the deal would cost.
Spurs’ interest in Nicolo Tresoldi first came to light during the summer, and the Lilywhites may be kicking themselves after not getting a deal done.
That is because the Club Brugge striker has been prolific since the start of the season, having scored nine goals in 12 matches so far, including four in two Champions League fixtures.
It was reported by TuttoSport a couple of days ago that Tottenham had turned their attention back to Tresoldi ahead of the January window, as they go in search of a new number nine to replace Richarlison.
That update claimed that Spurs could face competition from their North London rivals, Arsenal, for the German U21 international, but the Lilywhites may also have one more club to worry about.
According to a new update from La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are now ready to make advances towards the Club Brugge star.
The report says that the Rossoneri have ‘ramped up their pursuit’ of the rumoured Tottenham target after watching him net a hat-trick against their cross-city rivals, Inter, in the Champions League.
Milan’s recruitment department is closely monitoring Tresoldi’s situation ahead of a potential move in the January window.
The outlet asserts that the frontman’s value has already surpassed €50m (£42m) after Brugge turned down a €35m (£30m) offer from AS Roma in the summer.
While it seems clear that signing a striker will be one of Tottenham’s main priorities in January, it is unclear at the moment who the club’s top target is.
It was revealed by TEAMtalk a few days ago that Spurs have compiled a five-striker shortlist for January, and that list did not include Tresoldi.
Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis, Espanyol’s Roberto Fernandez, Real Madrid’s Endrick, Freiburg’s Igor Matanovic and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta were named as the five names on the Lilywhites’ radar.
