Rabat– Lazio coach Gennaro Gattuso has commended Moroccan midfielder Reda Belahyane for his progress and commitment. He acknowledged, however, that there are areas the player needs to improve following the Italian side’s 3-0 victory over Juventus in Serie A on Sunday.

Gattuso has expressed appreciation for the Moroccan international’s development since joining the team. The coach recalled that Belahyane initially struggled during training sessions but gradually improved through determination and a positive attitude.

Commenting on the areas the player needs to improve, Gattuso said the  midfielder sometimes fails to drop back, making it more difficult for the full-backs to move forward and contribute to the attack.

Belahyane’s willingness to work and adapt has helped him earn the coach’s confidence, although Gattuso continues to demand greater tactical discipline from him. The remarks of the Italian coach are a mixture of encouraging Belahyane’s development and pushing him to meet the demands of Italian football.

Belahyane featured in Lazio’s impressive 3-0 victory over Juventus on October 18, playing the full match as the visitors secured an important result.

The victory gave a significant boost to Lazio as they continued their Serie A campaign, while Belahyane gained further experience in a high-profile fixture.

For Belhayane, Gattuso’s praise represents encouragement, but his tactical observations give a clear vision of what the midfielder must improve to become an even more influential figure in Lazio and one of the options for Morocco’s national team.
