Manchester United's players were booed by passengers after road traffic forced their train to London to be delayed. United boss Michael Carrick, the club's staff and his players made their way to the capital on Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday's 12:30 kick-off against Chelsea.
As is routine for the Red Devils, they boarded the train at Stockport to take them down to London. But there was a hiccup when, according to The Overlap, United got delayed on their way to the station because of traffic.
The train, which came from Manchester Piccadilly, had to be held so that United didn't miss it. When they did finally board, some players were subjected to boos. Carrick, on other hand, got a cheer. It was ultimately only a seven-minute delay.
But the incident had echoes of when United's players were booed off by angry home supporters following their woeful 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford last Sunday - after those same fans had chanted Carrick's name as he made his way off the pitch.

It was widely expected that Carrick would be sacked after Sunday's defeat, which left his side on an eight-game winless run and with only one victory in the Premier League this season. The Red Devils have, however, decided to stick with the 45-year-old - but for how long is unknown.
"I don't need any assurances from anyone," Carrick told reporters on Thursday. "I totally get the position. I understand the job. I understand the responsibilities. I understand what comes with that. So, I really don't need any assurances from anyone in that regard."
The United manager added: "I don't see it (the criticism) really. I see the things that I need to see. I don't look for it. It doesn't really help in any way.

"I've said it before, I care about what the supporters think, I care about what it feels like in the stadium and them travelling for games to us to come and see us and support us. I care about what we give them and what we offer them and what they see.
"I genuinely don't take any notice of anything else. I know this job, I know what it brings, I know what we need to do, really, to be better. I don't need anyone else to tell me anything else."
