Late Wicknell's Brother Filmed Gifting a Football Club KSh 6.5m

Zimbabwean champions Scottland FC have taken a commanding first-leg lead in the CAF Champions League, and the players have been rewarded handsomely for it.

Businessman Joachim “G6” Chivayo gave the squad US$50,000 (about KSh 6.5 million) after the 2-0 win over Angola’s Petro de Luanda.

The gesture comes shortly after the burial of his brother, Wicknell Chivayo, a prominent businessman and one of the club’s major financial backers.

The bonus was part of a combined US$150,000 (roughly KSh 19.4 million) payout. According to iHarare News, club owner Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya put up US$100,000 (about KSh 12.9 million), and G6 added the remaining US$50,000.

The Chivayo family’s ties to Scottland run deep. Wicknell previously gave the club a US$300,000 (about KSh 38.7 million) kickoff boost to support its ambitions.

He also rewarded the squad with US$50,000 after they won the Independence Cup. G6’s latest donation suggests the family’s commitment to the team’s African campaign has not wavered since Wicknell’s death.

On the pitch, Scottland played a disciplined match against a resilient Petro de Luanda side that spent much of the contest with 10 men.

Former Warriors winger Khama Billiat broke the deadlock in the 66th minute. He then set up Knowledge Musona to double the lead with about 10 minutes left.

The two-goal cushion gives Scottland a crucial advantage ahead of Friday’s return leg in Angola. The club is seeking a place in the next round of its debut CAF Champions League campaign.
