Exciting new footage has emerged showing the impressive interior of Kenya’s ultra-modern 60,000-seater stadium at Talanta Sports City in Nairobi, sparking nationwide pride ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The video reveals gleaming red seats, wide staircases, clean corridors and a professional finish that signals the facility is in its final stages.
Popularly known as Talanta Stadium (and set to be officially named Raila Odinga International Stadium), the arena is Kenya’s first purpose-built football and rugby stadium designed to CAF Category 4 standards.
Located at Jamhuri Grounds along Ngong Road, the stadium will serve as one of Kenya’s main venues when the country co-hosts AFCON 2027 alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
With a capacity of 60,000, 52 luxury skyboxes, modern media facilities, a hybrid GrassMaster pitch and advanced lighting and sound systems, it is expected to host major matches including potentially the opening game and final.
Construction, undertaken by China Road and Bridge Corporation, began in March 2024 at a cost of approximately KSh45 billion.
By late August 2026, officials reported the main stadium had surpassed 94 per cent completion, with the pitch ready and finishing works ongoing. Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has indicated the venue could host test matches from November or December 2026.
The project also includes three attached training grounds and supporting infrastructure such as a dedicated power substation.
Once fully operational, the stadium is set to become a permanent home for Harambee Stars and a venue for rugby internationals, concerts and major national events.
Kenyans are already calling it a source of national pride and a game-changer for local football. The stunning interior views confirm that Talanta Sports City is rapidly transforming into a world-class facility ready to welcome Africa in 2027.
