According to Sports Mole midfielder Martin Zubimendi is currently a major doubt with an ankle injury. The report states his possible return date is October 18 against Nottingham Forest.
As per the report, Zubimendi was one of two Arsenal players to pick up an ankle injury in the warm-down last weekend after the 2-1 win over Leeds United, and he sat out the midweek victory over Lille as a result.
However, there is good news for Gunners fans.
As reported by OneFootball, and Football London, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the Spanish midfielder is improving quickly. Speaking after the win over Lille, Arteta affirmed that the Spaniard is "much, much better" and there is a possibility that he will return to the squad at the City Ground.
According to Sportskeeda, teammate Mikel Merino has explained how the injury happened, describing it as a "freak accident". As reported by the outlet, Merino told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser: "He is fine, he had his ankle a little bit hurt due to an action with me and if there is anyone that doesn't want to hurt him, it's me. It was a freak accident in training but he's fine, he is a bull and recovers quickly."[Zubimendi]
While Zubimendi could be in contention to face Nottingham Forest this Sunday, his fellow injury victim Piero Hincapie is not so lucky. According to Sports Mole, Hincapie had to be carried off the pitch and his injury is more serious, with a return not expected for a number of weeks.
Arsenal will be hoping their midfield bull recovers in time as they continue their push to catch Manchester City in the title race.
