Paris St-Germain delivered a statement performance in the UEFA Champions League, defeating Barcelona 4-2 at Parc des Princes in a pulsating contest that ended the Spanish side's 11-match unbeaten start to the season.
Desire Doue, Lucas Hernandez, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz found the net for the defending champions, while Barcelona responded through Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal in a match filled with attacking quality and dramatic momentum swings.
PSG started aggressively, pressing high to disrupt Barcelona's attempts to build from the back.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck the post just 79 seconds into the game after Pedri lost possession, while Doue and Ousmane Dembele were denied by goalkeeper Joan Garcia following turnovers.
Barcelona also threatened, with Raphinha forcing a save from Matvey Safonov after receiving a pass from Anthony Gordon.
The hosts eventually broke through in the 38th minute. After intercepting a Barcelona pass, Doue advanced towards the penalty area before driving a low shot into the bottom-left corner.
Barcelona responded 10 minutes into the second half when 19-year-old Espart unleashed a powerful near-post finish to beat Safonov and restore parity.
PSG regained the advantage through Hernandez, who rose above the defence to head home from a corner.
However, Yamal produced an impressive individual effort, turning Warren Zaire-Emery before driving into the box and squeezing the ball past Safonov at the near post.
Vitinha restored PSG's lead less than two minutes later, controlling a clearance on his chest before firing a superb volley into the bottom corner.
Ruiz then completed the scoring five minutes later, arriving at the far post to convert Achraf Hakimi's low delivery.
The victory leaves PSG on nine points ahead of their trip to Villarreal on Tuesday, 3 November, at 20:00 GMT.
Barcelona remain on six points and will welcome Aston Villa at Camp Nou on the same date and time.
