Migori Youth are facing an early selection setback after midfielder Vincent Otieno was ruled out by a recurring knee problem that has delayed his competitive debut for the club.
The attacking midfielder joined the FKF Premier League newcomers on loan from Tusker during the transfer window but has been unavailable since the pre-season period as he continues to deal with the injury.
Migori Youth confirmed that initial medical findings suggest Otieno may have aggravated a knee injury sustained last season.
The club said further examinations would establish the extent of the damage and guide the next stage of his treatment.
“Midfielder Vincent Otieno will be sidelined for some time after preliminary medical findings indicated a possible aggravation of a knee injury that he had sustained in the past.
“He will undergo further medical evaluation to establish the extent of the injury, after which prompt treatment will be initiated,” the club stated.
Otieno last featured for Migori Youth during their pre-season friendlies. His absence has since deprived head coach Salim Babu of an attacking midfield option as the team adjusts to the demands of top-flight football.
The former Nairobi City Stars player arrived from Tusker on a loan deal running until the end of the season, with his experience in the Kenyan Premier League expected to strengthen the squad.
However, the recurrence of his knee problem has delayed his involvement in competitive matches, leaving the technical bench waiting for medical clearance before planning for his return.
Migori Youth began their maiden FKF Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Kenya Police and will be looking to build momentum in their upcoming fixtures.
The Awendo-based side are scheduled to host Mathare United at Awendo Green Stadium on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
