Liverpool playmaker Florian Wirtz came to life alongside Bradley Barcola and Alexander Isak against Brighton, though he did later limp off having taken a knock.
But the German is not expected to be out for long, with Andoni Iraola replacing him with Trey Nyoni when Liverpool was already 2-0 up. The Spanish coach hinted post-match that he doesn't believe Wirtz will be sidelined for a sustained spell, with two more games at Anfield to come this week.
"Unfortunately, he had to leave the pitch with a small twist of the ankle," Iraola said. "It doesn't look very big, but we are playing every three days, so we need to see where he is."
Victor Munoz also sat out the win over Brighton, though the Liverpool winger was in attendance to see his teammates get the three points over the line.
His knock was picked up against Brentford when he impressed and scored just over a week ago. Iraola had not completely ruled him out of being involved, suggesting he was still in some "pain" ahead of the weekend.
That suggests that Munoz will be back sooner rather than later, with the summer signing having shown some good early signs during his career in England to date.
Dominik Szoboszlai is another who is not expected to be out for long. The Hungary captain came back too soon from a minor injury and Liverpool will be "patient" with him.
In the meantime, Nyoni, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are covering those roles, and have done a good job in recent games given the four wins on the spin in all competitions.
Like Szoboszlai, Jeremie Frimpong limped off at Brentford, but he will be out for longer. It is unlikely that he will be back before the November international break, which comes after Liverpool takes on Crystal Palace in a couple of weeks.
At that point, Giovanni Leoni should come back into team training after being out for more than a year, but the center-back will be eased back in.
Get Liverpool's new 2026/27 home kit
Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike are also long-term absentees who are edging closer to a return. "They are both doing very well," Iraola said recently. "I think they are in a good place.
"Conor is not so far from training with the group — not full training but doing some things. It’s difficult [to give a timescale] when they've been injured for so long, but I think Conor is not very far from starting doing things with us."
