Chelsea have emerged as potential contenders for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with a club insider confirming interest in the Real Madrid defender amid uncertainty over his long-term future.
The former Liverpool star has struggled to secure regular minutes in Spain this season. He has reportedly started only three matches in defence and one in midfield, while spending four games on the bench.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are monitoring his situation, with club insider Si Phillips revealing that a top source had confirmed the interest.
Phillips reportedly received confirmation from a second source, making the potential transfer one to watch.
However, there is currently no clear indication that Alexander-Arnold would be willing to move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are keeping their options open at right-back, with Malo Gusto reportedly on the transfer list as the club considers alternative targets.
Despite the growing speculation, a January move for Alexander-Arnold appears unlikely because the defender remains determined to establish himself at Real Madrid.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague recently explained the player’s position, saying: “No, not in January.
“What he’s feeling right now is ‘Okay, it’s not my time, but it will be my time, I will prepare for my time.’ That’s how he’s taking the whole thing.”
Balague added that Federico Valverde and Denzel Dumfries are ahead of Alexander-Arnold, with Eder Militao also having featured at right-back.
He explained: “But in any case, he’s got to keep fighting and he wants to succeed at Real Madrid, so he’s got no intention of leaving.”
With Mourinho reportedly encouraging the defender to remain patient, Chelsea may need to wait before pursuing a deal. For now, their interest remains at the monitoring stage, with Alexander-Arnold focused on earning more opportunities in Madrid.
