Reports Say Jannik Sinner Adds Magnus Norman to Coaching Staff

Jannik Sinner has turned to Magnus Norman as his next coaching appointment, according to reports in the British newspaper The Times, as the Italian prepares to target a career Grand Slam in Paris following Darren Cahill’s decision to end his role after the season.

The transition marks a restructuring for the 25-year-old Italian, who has claimed titles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. With the Roland Garros crown remaining the missing piece for a career Grand Slam, Sinner has turned to the Swede to guide his preparation. According to coverage, Norman is set to work alongside Simone Vagnozzi, who remains a central figure in the player’s corner.

While the appointment has circulated widely across international sports media, an official confirmation from Sinner or his management team is still pending. Cahill, who had partnered with Sinner since 2022, decided to step away from his role at the conclusion of the season.

Proven Grand Slam Pedigree With Stan Wawrinka and Robin Söderling

Norman arrives with a reputation. The 50-year-old Swede previously steered Stan Wawrinka to three major singles championships: the Australian Open in 2014, the French Open in 2015, and the US Open in 2016. In each of those three finals, Wawrinka defeated a world No. 1.

Beyond his work with Wawrinka—whose retirement from professional competition was announced in Basel—Norman also guided Robin Söderling to the French Open finals in 2009 and 2010. Those achievements earned Norman the ATP Coach of the Year award in 2016. His own playing career featured 12 ATP singles titles, a run to the French Open final in 2000 where he fell to Gustavo Kuerten, and a career-high ranking of No. 2 in the world.

Methodical Approach and the Road to an Anticipated Return in Riad

Known for meticulous technical preparation—dating back to training diaries he kept as a 12-year-old—Norman’s analytical style aligns with Sinner’s team. Norman balances his tour commitments with co-founding the “Good to Great” Tennis Academy in Sweden, where he has worked with junior talent.

As the coaching shift takes shape, Sinner’s physical recovery continues. The 25-year-old plans his return to the court for late December at the Six Kings Slam in Riad, provided the event takes place.
