Brighton midfielder Diego Gomez scored a goal-of-the-season contender on Sunday, Oct. 18, finding the net from midfield against Crystal Palace.
With his side already up 1-0 in the seventh minute, Gomez received a pass near midfield after a Palace turnover.
Spotting Palace goalkeeper Walter Benítez off his line, Gomez took a touch and launched an audacious effort from just past the midfield stripe.
The Paraguay international's shot was a low line drive that soared over Benítez and landed in the net for one of the goals of the season.
According to Opta, the goal was from 51 meters out, the farthest goal in the Premier League since Wayne Rooney's 58-meter goal for Everton in 2017.
