A Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona clash is no ordinary fixture these days. After all, it brings together two of the most in-form teams in European football. Hansi Flick and Pedri both made that clear in their pre-match press conferences at the Parc des Princes, the venue for Tuesday's game at 9pm CEST.

Fantastic PSG

The Barça coach began by discussing his counterpart, Luis Enrique: "He's won two consecutive Champions League titles. His team play fantastic football. He's an excellent coach, one of the best in the world."

Flick also described the match as a "good test ... I want my team to play with confidence, courage and togetherness, as we have in recent games. It'll be an opportunity to show our level. We're ready."

Asked about the absentees in defence, the latest being Koundé and Eric Garcia, Flick said that De Jong and Rodri could fill those positions. Àlex Campos, who has received his first call-up, is another option. As for Raphinha, he said the Brazilian "could start".

Pride

Victory would be Flick's 100th win as Barça coach. "I really appreciate the respect and affection we receive from the Barça fans," he said, before stressing that the team are "doing very well".

"I'm very proud. The attitude is always first-class," he added.

Pedri: 'We're on a good run'

Pedri also spoke to the media, saying ·whoever has the ball will have the upper hand. We're in good form and ready to do that."

As for the match itself, he expects "a difficult encounter, we want to win, but we're not treating it like a final. There's still a long way to go. We want to keep our good run going against a very strong opponent. We'll see where we stand in Europe."

Taking on responsibility

On a personal level, Pedri said he feels like "an important player. I'm one of the captains. I try to help the younger players and do my bit. I've been at the club for quite a few years now and I know how things work here."
