WINTER Olympics skiing legend Lindsey Vonn is living proof to the world that the most brutal of injuries can be overcome.
Vonn, who just celebrated her 42nd birthday, is now eight months on from her complex leg fracture and ankle break.
The Team USA icon suffered those injuries from a horrifying crash on her first official run at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
On her long road to recovery so far, Vonn has had SIX surgeries and is now preparing for her seventh in just over two weeks time.
She still requires surgery on her ACL having torn it one week before the Olympics in yet another brutal crash.
The ACL tear didn’t prevent her from competing at the Winter Olympics but now needs addressing.
Vonn took to Instagram to share her progress with an incredible workout video showing what needs to be strengthened ahead of the procedure.
“Pre-surgery prep…. Focusing on high reps, getting muscle endurance and building mass,” her caption read.
“I’m also easing my way into jumps both static, lateral and some stop-and-go absorption.
“Pretty basic but the results are adding up.
“Hoping to be as strong as possible so when my leg atrophies post surgery i might still have some muscle left. 2 1/2 weeks to go!”
Her adorable dog Chance also made a feature in the video while she worked out, unsurprisingly a big fan favorite on her social media.
And the fans were in absolute awe of Vonn herself, with some very notable names in the comments.
“So inspiring! 🔥🔥,” wrote American tennis legend Venus Williams.
“You are so inspiring, Lindsey ❤️💪,” added the official Olympics account.
“You continue to amaze me,” commented a fan.
“Amazing, you are an example that shows to the world that if you want to progress everything is possible,” added another.
Vonn was named to the US Alpine Ski Team’s 49-athlete roster for 2026-27 earlier this month, meaning there will be plenty more work to be done post-surgery.
