Barcelona are reportedly monitoring Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi as the Catalan giants consider reviving their interest in the French youngster ahead of the 2027 summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old emerged as a potential target for Barcelona last summer, but the Spanish champions were unable to secure his services after Bournemouth rejected two offers.
According to Barca Universal, citing SPORT, Barcelona remain interested in Kroupi and will monitor his performances as he finally returns from a serious foot injury.
The France youth international suffered a metatarsal fracture in July, disrupting his progress after an impressive debut campaign in the Premier League.
However, Kroupi has now resumed training on the pitch following several months of rehabilitation, raising hopes that he could soon return to competitive action.
Barcelona had initially identified the Bournemouth forward as an alternative to Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who was considered their preferred attacking target.
However, Atletico’s reluctance to negotiate a deal for the Argentine forced the Catalan club to explore other options.
Kroupi subsequently emerged as an attractive alternative, having caught the attention of Barcelona’s recruitment team with his performances in England.
The Spanish giants reportedly submitted two offers for the youngster, but Bournemouth rejected both approaches.
The Premier League club were unwilling to part ways with one of their key attacking prospects and placed a valuation exceeding €100 million on the Frenchman.
That asking price, coupled with Kroupi’s injury setback, complicated Barcelona’s pursuit of the striker.
Nevertheless, the Catalan giants have not completely abandoned their interest and could reconsider a move next summer.
Much will depend on how Kroupi performs after returning from injury and whether he can rediscover the form that initially attracted Barcelona’s attention.
The club’s attacking requirements will also influence any potential approach, with manager Hansi Flick currently having several options available in the final third.
