Paris Saint-Germain suffered a severe triple blow during a Champions League match against FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes, losing key players Ousmane Dembélé, Marquinhos, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to muscle injuries, Eurosport reported.
The trouble began just twenty minutes into the fixture when forward Ousmane Dembélé limped off the pitch, clutching the back of his left thigh following an acceleration. According to L’Équipe, Dembélé sustained a left hamstring injury and was scheduled for medical examinations on Wednesday to determine the exact severity of the damage.
Dembélé’s premature departure proved to be only the opening misfortune for the reigning French champions. Captain Marquinhos and winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were forced off simultaneously during the second half, swelling PSG’s treatment room and stripping manager Luis Enrique of three critical starters at once.
Speaking to Canal+ after the final whistle, PSG defender Achraf Hakimi addressed the status of his teammates. “Marquinhos, I don’t know, I didn’t see him. Ousmane, I don’t know. He’s going to have an MRI tomorrow, and I think Kvara too. We hope it’s not something serious,” Hakimi said.
PSG manager Luis Enrique provided further context during his post-match press conference, acknowledging the heavy toll the fixture took on his squad. “I’m not a doctor. I know that the three players are injured, that’s the worst thing about the match today. We have to wait until tomorrow to know exactly after the tests they will do… But three injured players, three very important players, is the worst news. But that’s how high-level football is,” Luis Enrique stated.
The sudden loss of Dembélé forced an immediate tactical adjustment on the pitch, with Ferran Torres entering the match from the bench. Medical staff at the club will review the results of the scheduled MRI scans on Wednesday before confirming recovery timelines for the three starters. The squad returns to training ahead of their next domestic fixture, awaiting official clarity from the medical department regarding the length of the potential absences.
