Hurzeler says only Brighton tried to win as Liverpool claim 2-0 victory

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler criticised Liverpool’s approach after his side were beaten 2-0 in the eighth round of the Premier League, saying that “only one team tried to win”.

Liverpool secured victory through Pascal Gross’ own goal and Alexander Isak’s strike, despite having just 35.6% possession at home.

That was Liverpool’s second-lowest share of possession in a home Premier League victory since the 2003-04 season.

The result gave Liverpool a fourth consecutive win in all competitions and lifted them to fourth place in the Premier League table.

Brighton, meanwhile, suffered only their second defeat in 13 matches across all competitions. Hurzeler’s side remain third in the league.
