An NFL Network analyst has issued an apology to Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles for his on-air remark about the star quarterback.

On Monday, it was announced that Hurts would miss the rest of the 2026 NFL season after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli.

He was initially diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his left calf before the Eagles' Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on October 11.

Hurts started the Wembley Stadium fixture despite not sleeping, throwing for 200 yards and a touchdown before Cam Little's last-gasp field goal saw the Jaguars clinch a dramatic 19-17 victory.

However, his health status has since worsened after additional clots were discovered in his lungs, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

Michael Robinson Accused Jalen Hurts of Faking an Injury

After the initial diagnosis, NFL Network's Michael Robinson played down Hurts' condition and inexplicably accused him of faking an injury in a take that has aged terribly given the latest assessment.

Referring to the slate of injuries on the Eagles' roster, Robinson said: "If I'm Jalen Hurts or anybody in the Jalen Hurts' camp, I'm saying 'if everybody is hurt, then I'm hurt, too'."

He added: "I would advise all of our viewers to go Google 'superficial blood clot' as opposed to a real blood clot."

Jalen Hurts Receives Apology From Michael Robinson

Once Hurts was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs, Robinson took to social media to issue an apology to the Eagles' star, the team and their fanbase.

He said his comments were 'wrong' in a post on social media before apologising to the 28-year-old in a statement.

"My official apology to @JalenHurts @Eagles and the entire fanbase. My comments were wrong. No excuse," he wrote on X, accompanied with a statement.

It read: "I want to sincerely apologize to Jalen Hurts, his family, the Philadelphia Eagles organization and fan base for my comments last Thursday. They were unfounded and I never should've speculated on a health issue of a player nor his commitment to this team."

Naturally, Robinson was condemned by ex-players and critics alike, including former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, who slammed Robinson's comments as 'unethical' and 'dangerous'.

On X, 'RG3' wrote: "Jalen Hurts is fighting for his life with multiple deep vein thrombosis blood clots in his lungs and a blood clot that traveled from his leg to his lungs. This is why Michael Robinson’s questioning of his motives for being held out of a game were unethical and dangerous. Players don’t fake blood clots. Let’s all pray for Jalen Hurts."
