Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has undergone successful surgery after fracturing his jaw during Saturday’s English Premier League match against Everton.

The Argentina international was taken off following a serious collision with an opponent.

Chelsea confirmed on its official website that Martinez required an operation after the jaw fracture was diagnosed.

The club wished the 34-year-old goalkeeper a speedy recovery but has not provided a timetable for his return.

Reports in the press had suggested Martinez could be sidelined until the winter.
