THE Inkk Farebrother Challenge was launched with great fanfare in Suva yesterday, as Naitasiri seeks to continue its defence against rivals wanting to lay its hands on the coveted title too.

The launch took place at the HFC Bank Stadium VIP Lounge in Suva with Ra, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Nadroga and Nadi representatives present.

Speaking during the launch, Inkk Mobile’s operations manager Amitesh Narayan relayed the competition as a platform where provincial pride, community, rivalry and the honour of donning provincial jerseys as something to cherish.

“Today (yesterday) is not simply the launch of another rugby competition; it is the continuation of a proud nation,” Narayan said.

“The Farebrother Challenge represents something special in Fiji rugby.”

He shared how significant the competition was for players, coaches and sporting administrators and what it truly meant for the fans and supporters.

“This is your competition. You bring the colour, the voice, the flag and the passion.

“Whether you are standing on the sidelines, watching with family and friends or travelling to support your province, you create an atmosphere that makes provincial rugby such an important part of our communities.”

The Farebrother title will be guarded by Naitasiri, who continue their defence of the title after five successive victories against Malolo, Nadroga, Lautoka, Vatukoula and Suva last year.

The last match against Suva was played at the Naluwai grounds in Naitasiri, which saw former French international and current Fijian Drua player Virimi Vakatawa feature for his team and played an instrumental role in helping them keep the title for another year.
