Liverpool unlikely to make Ronald Araujo loan move permanent

Ronald Araujo is unlikely to join Liverpool on a permanent basis when his loan from Barcelona ends after the current season.

David Lynch, a journalist who closely covers Liverpool, said the club does not intend to sign the Uruguay defender outright. Speaking on the AnfieldIndex channel, Lynch said the €55m purchase option was too expensive for Liverpool.

He added that the Merseyside club would not usually spend such a fee on an older player. Liverpool are already looking for a replacement for Araujo, according to Lynch.

Araujo has made nine appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season. He has scored one goal and provided one assist.
