Abendroth Sisters Win First ITF Tennis Doubles Title

Jolie Angelique Abendroth and her younger sister Isabella Angelina Abendroth won the doubles title at an ITF world ranking tennis tournament in Karlsbad, Czech Republic. The Rostock sibling duo claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the final against the Czech-German pairing of Laetitia Pulehartova and Angelina Wirgis, securing their first career title together at this level.

Four Match Wins on Indoor Hard Courts

The tournament offered a total prize fund of 15,000 US dollars and was staged on indoor hard courts. To lift the trophy, the Abendroth sisters won four matches in the doubles draw. In the championship match against Pulehartova and Wirgis—who represent TSC Hansa Dortmund—the Rostock pair dictated the rallies to close out the straight-sets win.

Qualifying Grinds in the Singles Draw

The event featured players representing 15 different nations, creating a deep entry list that forced both Abendroth sisters to battle through the singles qualifying rounds based on their current world rankings. Both players won two qualifying matches to secure their places in the main draw. In the main tournament, 20-year-old Jolie Angelique fell in the opening round, while 16-year-old Isabella Angelina advanced to the quarterfinals. Isabella captured two main-draw wins before running into Ukraine’s Daria Lopatetska. After claiming the opening set, Isabella dropped the next two against the 22-year-old Ukrainian in a match lasting over two hours, with the final score reading 6-3, 2-6, 3-6 in favor of Lopatetska, who ultimately went on to win the singles tournament.

Bundesliga Season with Club an der Alster

The triumph in Karlsbad follows a strong team campaign earlier in the year. During the outdoor summer season, the Abendroth sisters competed for the first time in the 1. Bundesliga for Club an der Alster Hamburg. Their contributions helped the Hamburg club finish third in Germany’s top flight, earning them the bronze medal in the German team tennis championships.
