Mauricio Arrasco has addressed mounting speculation regarding interest from Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal, confirming that his professional future will remain undecided until the conclusion of the current Liga 1 campaign, Depor reported.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, currently starring for FC Cajamarca, has emerged as one of the standout performers of the 2026 season. With seven goals and five assists to his name, his production in the provincial side has caught the attention of top-flight clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Infobae.
Arrasco’s rise to prominence marks a stark contrast to his initial stint in professional football. Born in 2004, the midfielder developed through the youth ranks at Alianza Lima, representing the club in various underage categories and earning call-ups to Peru’s under-15 and under-17 national teams, as reported by Bolavip Perú.
His early promise yielded a professional contract in September 2022, followed by a senior debut during the 2023 pre-season and Liga 1 fixtures. However, first-team minutes proved difficult to secure. After a loan spell with Alianza Universidad de Huánuco in 2024 and a subsequent return to Matute that failed to yield regular playing time, Arrasco departed the club as a free agent at the close of 2025.
Moving to FC Cajamarca for the 2026 season provided the consistent playing time that eluded him in the capital. That sustained exposure transformed his career trajectory, elevating his estimated market value to 300,000 euros according to Transfermarkt updates cited by Diario Líbero.
Recent reports from the PBO Campeonísimo program indicate that Alianza Lima has initiated internal evaluations regarding a potential reunion, while Sporting Cristal has similarly monitored his contract status. Observers note that while informal inquiries have been made by both clubs, no formal bids or direct negotiations have yet materialized.
When questioned about the possibility of returning to his boyhood club, Arrasco acknowledged a deep appreciation for the institution while keeping his options open. Alianza is the club that formed me and I am very grateful to them,
Arrasco told Depor. It would be nice to have a ‘revenge’, so to speak, but I do not close the doors to anyone, since this is a profession and we, the footballers, owe ourselves to the clubs that are interested in us.
Arrasco further stated that all incoming proposals at the end of the season will be evaluated alongside his agent and his brother. Meanwhile, FC Cajamarca continues its campaign in the domestic tournament, and the player maintains his focus on closing out the year strongly before any transfer decisions are finalized.
