Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has challenged Yan Diomande to improve his finishing, stressing that the youngster must address the weakness to reach his full potential at the club.
Mourinho spoke after Real Madrid’s victory over Sevilla on Sunday. The Portuguese coach praised the winger’s overall performance but pointed out that his finishing needs improvement.
“I am very happy with Diomande. He has a lot to work on, and he has many things he needs to improve. He needs to work on his finishing,” Mourinho said.
He added: “He gets to a lot of dangerous positions, but he needs to learn to relax more and make a better decision in last touch.”
Diomande, a 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, joined Real Madrid from RB Leipzig in a high-value summer transfer. He has already demonstrated good movement and an ability to find himself in dangerous attacking positions.
However, Mourinho believes the youngster must develop greater composure and improve his decision-making in the final third if he is to take his game to the next level.
