FC Barcelona is monitoring ACF Fiorentina right-back Dodô as a potential low-cost defensive reinforcement for the upcoming summer transfer window, according to SPORT.

Fiorentina Confirms Impending Departure After Failed Summer Sale

The 27-year-old Brazilian defender is approaching the final stretch of his tenure in Florence, with sporting director Fabio Paratici publicly acknowledging the player’s intentions. As reported by SPORT, Paratici stated that the defender plans to seek a new club when the season concludes, noting that the management was open to offers during the previous transfer window.

Fiorentina did not receive a suitable offer over the summer, which caused some inconveniences regarding the player’s focus for the new season. Paratici noted that the defender has since trained very well and remains an active member of the squad while he is there.

Contractual Situation Creates Zero-Fee Transfer Opportunity

Dodô’s current agreement runs until June 2027, creating an appealing financial scenario for prospective buyers. Because he is not currently renewing, outlets indicate he could depart as a free agent next summer if no winter transfer is arranged.

This contractual advantage offers Barcelona a chance to address their right-back position without paying a high transfer fee, allowing the club to reserve money for other squad areas. However, Fiorentina faces a January decision: sell the defender during the winter window to secure a fee, or retain him and risk losing him for nothing in summer.

Profile and Competition From Italian Rivals

Standing 1.66 meters tall, the former Coritiba, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Vitória de Guimarães player has accumulated 166 official appearances for Fiorentina, contributing three goals and 13 assists. His offensive profile and proven experience in European football match the tactical traits Barcelona reportedly values.

The Catalan club faces competition for the defender’s signature. Both Juventus and AC Milan are tracking the situation closely, meaning several clubs could vie for his services should he leave Florence.
