Real Madrid has had a much-needed turnaround in La Liga this month, winning three straight games and reducing Barcelona’s lead at the top to three points.
Kylian Mbappe has been instrumental in that turnaround, delivering crucial performances when Jose Mourinho’s club needed them the most.
The French superstar has been officially nominated for La Liga’s Player of the Month award for October.
The nomination comes after an amazing run, which featured a match-winning brace against Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou, Reported on social media.
Mbappe scored four goals in three league appearances in October, helping Real Madrid keep its perfect record.
During the month, the 27-year-old scored twice against Sevilla and Barcelona. These efforts increased his goal total to 11, putting him second behind Raphinha, who has 13.
Mbappe will compete for the monthly prize alongside Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Sociedad’s Goncalo Guedes, Atletico Madrid’s Alejandro Grimaldo, and Elche goalkeeper Matias Dituro.
The Frenchman was also nominated for the prize in September, but Raphinha eventually won.
Mbappe nearly lost out on the 2026 Ballon d’Or to Harry Kane, but his season has begun on a high note.
His performances have also benefited from Jose Mourinho’s recent tactical changes. Arda Guler’s creativity, Yan Diomande’s movement, and Eduardo Camavinga’s ability to carry the ball forward have all provided opportunities for the French striker.
Mbappe is better than most others at finding the back of the net.
The Clasico was a compelling example of this, with Mbappe capitalizing on Los Blancos’ tactical set-up while being clinical in crucial times.
The most positive aspect for Madrid is that they are finding ways to support their talismanic scorer rather than expecting him to do everything on his own.
It is unclear whether Mbappe will win the monthly prize, but there is no doubt that his October efforts have dragged Madrid right back into La Liga title race.
