Toulouse FC have opened discussions with Guillaume Restes over a contract extension as they attempt to secure the future of one of their most highly regarded players.

The French club are understood to be negotiating with their goalkeeper over a new agreement running until June 2030, according to information reported by Ekrem Konur. Restes is currently contracted to Toulouse FC until June 2028.

The proposed extension reflects the importance Toulouse place on the France international, whose development has attracted attention from a number of clubs across Europe. Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Aston Villa, Ipswich Town and Naples are all reported to be monitoring his situation.

Toulouse are keen to act before interest in Restes develops into a formal approach from another club. The club regard the goalkeeper as a significant part of their plans for the coming seasons and hope a longer contract would strengthen their position in the event of offers.

Negotiations are under way, although no final agreement has been announced. A renewal would give Toulouse greater protection against losing Restes to another European project and allow them to continue building around a player whose reputation is growing.

Restes is of Ivorian origin and, according to Transfermarkt, has an estimated market value of 18 million euros. An agreement extending his stay until June 2030 would represent a two-year increase on his current deal.

Toulouse will next face Marseille in their ninth-day match of the French championship.
