The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is undergoing one major change before the Lilywhites host Coventry City on Monday night.
It will have been a month since Spurs last played at their home ground when they line up against Coventry on Monday, with Aston Villa being the last side to travel to North London on September 19.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosted the annual NFL London Games during the extended three-week international break.
The Spurs players are currently in a warm-weather training camp in Marbella, Spain, but they may notice something different when they return to their home ground on Monday night.
Spurs are using the extended break to make modifications to the playing surface at the 62,850-capacity venue.
The stadium features a retractable football pitch, which can slide underneath the South Stand to reveal an artificial surface underneath, which is used for NFL, concerts and other events.
Content creator Chris Cowlin has shared that the retractable football pitch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is currently being relaid, despite the Lilywhites only playing four times there so far this season.
Cowlin wrote on X: “The pitch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is currently being relaid – ready for the Coventry game on Monday 19th October.”

Tottenham Hotspur have a shocking record at home over the last couple of years, and Spurs fans will be hoping the change in pitch also changes the team’s fortunes at home.
Tottenham have suffered crippling injury crises over the last two seasons, which is one of the reasons why the club finished as low as they did in the table.
| Injured player | Injury | Potential Return |
| Wilson Odobert | Knee | November 2026 |
| Xavi Simons | Knee | 2027 |
| Mykhailo Mudryk | Ankle | November 2026 |
| Dejan Kulusevski | Fitness | Soon |
| Pedro Porro | Hamstring | October 2026 |
During the summer, it was widely reported that Spurs launched an enquiry to assess whether the pitch at the stadium was responsible for more injuries.
The same tests were also done on the pitches at the Hotspur Way training ground, but the experts concluded that there was nothing wrong with them. It would thus seem that this decision to relay the pitch has little to do with any potential concerns about injuries.
