Xavi Simons keeps teasing Tottenham Hotspur fans with his work behind the scenes as the attacking midfielder steps up his recovery from his ACL injury.

Even though it has only been six months since the Dutchman tore his ACL, we know that he is already in the final stages of his recovery.

Xavi has regularly posted videos of him working outdoors, as he attempts to hand Roberto De Zerbi an injury boost over the coming months.

The earlier predictions that the 23-year-old would not return to the pitch until February of next year now seem considerably off, and that has become even clearer from his latest social media update.

According to recent updates, the former RB Leipzig man is now targeting a return to action earlier than the Spurs medical staff expect.

According to one Tottenham insider, Xavi wants to be back in action by late December, even though the club have pencilled in January as his expected return timeline.

The Netherlands international has now posted another update on social media about his progress, which has got Spurs fans excited.

Xavi shared a video of him doing some light ball work on the Hotspur Way pitches, where he showcases his silky touch. Watch the video below:

Why Roberto De Zerbi will not rush Xavi back

The 23-year-old has been named in Tottenham’s 25-man Premier League squad, which suggests that De Zerbi always saw a chance that he could be fit before January.

The return to fitness of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski has solved some of Spurs’ creative woes, which means that the Italian can afford to take things slow with Xavi rather than rushing him back.

However, Tottenham fans are still waiting to hear the latest on Maddison’s suspected groin injury after the midfielder was forced off at the start of the second half against Chelsea.

Roberto De Zerbi has indicated that the England international’s injury is not serious, and the 29-year-old was seen moving without any discomfort after the game.
