Paris Saint-Germain Féminine have confirmed that Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade will undergo surgery after suffering a fibula fracture while on international duty with Nigeria.
The 26-year-old forward sustained the injury during Nigeria’s second-leg encounter against Comoros in the second qualifying round of the 2028 Olympic Games at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.
Ajibade was forced off in the 23rd minute and was replaced by Folashade Ijamilusi. Nigeria went on to secure a 5-0 victory, completing a 7-0 aggregate triumph to advance in the qualifying competition.
In a statement published on the club’s official website, PSG confirmed that the Nigeria international would undergo surgery performed by one of the club’s leading surgeons before beginning rehabilitation under the supervision of the Parisian side’s medical team.
“Rasheedat Ajibade, who was injured during Nigeria’s most recent national team match against Comoros, has suffered a fibula fracture,” the club stated.
“Our forward will undergo surgery soon, performed by one of the club’s leading surgeons, before beginning her rehabilitation with the Paris Saint-Germain medical team.”
The club did not specify how long Ajibade would be sidelined or provide a timeline for her return to competitive action.
The injury is a setback for the Super Falcons captain, who remains an important figure in Nigeria’s women’s national team.
Ajibade previously played for Spanish side Atlético Madrid before joining PSG, where she has continued her club career in France.
Further updates on her recovery and expected return are likely to follow after the surgery and subsequent medical assessment.
