Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has become the latest Red to heap praise on Barcelona loanee Ronald Araujo.
Following his summer transfer, the Uruguayan is enjoying life at Anfield and was voted Player of the Match (and Premier League Player of the Week) in Sunday’s triumph over Brighton.
Manager Andoni Iraola praised his performance afterward, and Van Dijk explained why Araujo was so vital to the victory, Reported by Barca News.
“I think he was very aggressive in the right moments at the right time,” Van Dijk told Stadium Astro. “That’s all we need. You can see it in the crowd; they enjoy it, and that excitement may spread to the team.
“I think it was amazing to get the clean sheet; there was obviously hard work involved, since if you look at Brighton, they’ve scored so many goals and just conceded a couple. So it was critical for us to maintain that clean sheet and be prepared for the break, which we did.”
After a difficult period at Barcelona, Araujo is enjoying his time in the Premier League with Liverpool, where he now confronts some important games. Iraola’s side face Chelsea in the EFL Cup in midweek before hosting Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
