Burkina Faso’s national cycling team have been urged to remain united, persistent and disciplined by the Mogho Naaba, three days before the 37th Tour du Faso begins on 30 October 2026.
The riders met the traditional leader in Ouagadougou on Tuesday, 27 October, to receive his advice and blessings before representing their country in one of Africa’s major cycling events.
The delegation was led by Annick Pikbougoum/Zingue Ouattara, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment. Officials from the Federation burkinabe de cyclisme and the Comite national d’organisation du Tour du Faso also attended the visit.
The meeting provided an opportunity to formally present the cyclists to the Mogho Naaba and seek his blessing ahead of the race. It formed part of the national team’s preparations for an event in which the riders will carry Burkina Faso’s hopes on the roads of the 37th edition.
In his guidance to the team, the Mogho Naaba highlighted the importance of group cohesion, perseverance and discipline throughout the competition. The riders were encouraged to stay together and maintain their determination from the start of the race.
The Tour du Faso 2026 will begin on 30 October. Burkina Faso’s cyclists will be aiming to defend the national colours and honour their country during a competition that attracts cycling supporters each year.
