The Champions League clash between Como and Manchester United at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia is reportedly at 'serious risk' of being postponed.
United have been very poor to start the 2026/27 campaign. They have suffered their worst start to a league campaign in 40 years after winning just one of their opening seven matches.
They were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the third round by Brighton & Hove Albion, despite taking a two-goal lead in the opening 10 minutes.
The Red Devils have also had a mixed start to their bid for Champions League glory. Michael Carrick's side managed to open their campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Sabah FC, but they were then beaten 2-0 by Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital.
After that match, Lisandro Martinez called out United's owners in a sensational interview, which he later apologised for.
Currently positioned 18th in the Champions League league phase table, they will be hoping for a victory over Cesc Fabregas' Como on Wednesday evening. The Italian club have also won one and lost one of their opening two matches and are only above United by virtue of goals scored.
There is a real chance that the match, scheduled to kick-off at 5:45pm BST (6:45pm local time), does not go ahead, though.
An orange warning for rain has been issued for Lombardy, the region in which Como is located. This is described as a severe warning of dangerous weather.
Heavy rain hit the area throughout much of Tuesday. Simon Peach of the Press Association was at Como's stadium on Tuesday evening, and he posted a video on social media of it 'absolutely tipping it down.'
Lightning could also be in the area at the time of kick-off.
Despite the poor weather forecast, Como are said to be confident that the pitch will hold up and the match will go ahead as planned.
If the game does go ahead, it could be an unpleasant evening for many of the fans inside the stadium. That is because only three of the four stands at the stadium are covered.
Michael Carrick isn't concerned about the weather, though. Asked if he had any concerns about the surface or even the match being impacted, he replied: “No, nothing immediate for me. We’re kind of used to the rain, so we’ll make the most of it.”

Pressure is mounting on Carrick after United's start to the campaign. He isn't worried about his job security, though.
Speaking ahead of the match against Como, he said, per the Irish Independent:
“I don’t need any reassurance. It’s pretty clear. I know the role, I know my responsibilities. I don’t need anyone else to tell me that or tell me when it’s going well or when it needs to be better. I know that myself.
“I know the realities and I’ve got no problem with that. It’s pretty clear. There’s not much I can really elaborate on that.
“I know we’ve got to win football games for everything to flow and everything to fit into place. That’s the great thing about it. We can do something about it.
“I’m in this position, I have a good relationship – a really good relationship with everybody at the football club. There’s really no issues and no problems with any of that side. We’ve got to win games of football and that’s what we’re striving to do.”
