“Special” Chelsea forward urged to leave Stamford Bridge after difficult start to life under Alonso

A Chelsea youngster has been advised to consider his future at Stamford Bridge after struggling to secure regular minutes under Xabi Alonso, with a former Blues winger explaining why a temporary departure could be the best move for his development.

The teenager arrived in west London with enormous expectations, but his progress has stalled amid fierce competition for places in Chelsea’s attack.

With opportunities limited this season, questions are beginning to emerge over whether he can develop as quickly as the club would hope without more regular first-team football.

Former Chelsea winger Scott Sinclair believes the situation highlights the importance of playing consistently at a young age.

Sinclair Explains Why Chelsea Star May Need to Leave

Sinclair knows what it takes to develop at Chelsea, having experienced several loan spells during his own time at the club.

Speaking to Andy’s Bet Club, per the Metro, he explained: “As a young player, all you want to do is play football.

“In my experience, having been on loan six times during my spell at Chelsea, you just want to be playing for your parent club. But when you aren’t, you have to go out on loan to gain experience and game time.

“The longer you go without playing, the less match-fit you become, which makes it even harder to get into the side when an opportunity arises and that leads to doubt.

“Only Estevao can decide what is best for him, but because he is so young, getting consistent game time is essential and having been in the same position, I’d say he should go and play.”

Sinclair’s comments underline the risk of allowing a talented young player to spend too much time on the sidelines, particularly when regular football is so important for development and confidence.

Chelsea Face Important Decision Over Youngster’s Future

Chelsea invested heavily in their young attacker and will be keen to see that investment pay off. However, the competition for attacking places means a consistent role in Alonso’s starting XI is far from guaranteed.

The Brazilian — once described as “special” by former Blues boss Enzo Maresca — enjoyed an encouraging first season at Stamford Bridge, scoring eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. Yet he has struggled to build on that start, having not made a Premier League start this season.

A January loan move could provide a potential solution, giving him the opportunity to gain valuable experience and return to Chelsea better prepared to compete for a regular role.

A permanent departure would be a much bigger decision, particularly given his potential and long-term importance to the club.

For now, his immediate priority will be earning more minutes under Alonso. If those opportunities continue to prove elusive, Sinclair believes playing elsewhere could be the right step for his development.
