Arsenal seek to overturn Max Dowman dismissal before Liverpool fixture

Arsenal are preparing to appeal the suspension handed to 16-year-old winger Max Dowman after his red card in the EFL Cup match against Fleetwood Town, according to journalist Isaan Khan.

The Gunners academy graduate was sent off during the game, but Arsenal are understood to disagree with the referee’s decision. The club hopes to receive a response to its appeal before facing Liverpool in the Premier League.

Dowman has made seven appearances for Arsenal in all competitions this season. He has scored two goals and provided one assist.

The Premier League meeting between Liverpool and Arsenal is scheduled for 1 November, with kick-off at 19:30 Moscow time. The outcome of the appeal could determine whether Dowman is available for the ninth-round fixture.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also addressed the dismissal, saying: “It happened, something we had talked about.”

No further details of the appeal have been provided.
