MANCHESTER CITY are set to be handed a “huge” points deduction that will keep them in the Championship for TWO YEARS, according to shock reports.
City are awaiting an outcome on their case against the Premier League after being found guilty of over 100 charges in relation to breaches of financial rules.
The club have always denied allegations of wrongdoing and launched an appeal against the independent commission’s findings.
But now the Daily Mail have claimed that City are expected to be given a brutal points deduction that will guarantee relegation.
The report claims Premier League chiefs are pushing to announce City’s punishment before the results of their appeal are revealed.
And its claimed the most likely punishment is a “swingeing” points deduction which will make it almost impossible for City to survive the drop.
But City could also receive ANOTHER points deduction that will keep them in the second tier for a further year, the report goes on.
It adds that expulsion from the top flight is “unlikely” because it would throw the EFL into “unprecedented chaos”.
After City’s major punishment is confirmed, the club should be “allowed to rebuild” in what would be a seismic moment in English football.
SunSport’s Martin Lipton has called for City to be slapped with an 80-point deduction and a £100m fine on top.

City’s case is expected to be resolved around Christmas or shortly into the New Year as a new fast-track process means their appeal, which was lodged on October 1, must be heard within 12 weeks.
The verdict must then be delivered within 30 days.
City may challenge that time-frame though as they could claim the new rules for a faster appeal process were only brought in this year and should not apply to them as they were initially charged in 2023.

The commission found the club set up “sham” commercial deals with sponsors that allowed them to hide £900million during the period of investigation from 2009 to 2018.
In a stunning statement alongside the commission’s findings, the Prem alleged City “systematically broke Premier League Rules for nearly a decade”.
City have stressed they have “irrefutable evidence” which clears their name and vowed to be “relentless” in their fight against the Prem.

They are bidding to become champions for the first time since 2024 after Arsenal beat them to the title last season.
