Real Madrid 'Very Worried' About Vinicius' Underwhelming Display

Real Madrid are reportedly growing increasingly concerned about Vinicius Junior’s disappointing performances this season, with the Brazilian struggling to justify his status as one of the club’s highest-paid players.

The 26-year-old has endured a difficult start to the campaign under Jose Mourinho, raising questions about his place in the team following the emergence of summer signing Yan Diomande.

According to Madrid Universal, citing journalist Sergio Valentin, the situation has become a major concern for the Spanish giants, who handed Vinicius a lucrative contract extension during the summer.

Vinicius Signed Long-Term Contract With Madrid

The Brazilian committed his future to Los Blancos until 2032, with his new agreement reportedly worth around €25 million net per season.

However, his performances have fallen short of expectations, leaving the club facing a difficult situation over a player who was expected to remain central to their attacking plans.

Vinicius enjoyed an impressive second half of last season and carried that form into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but he has struggled to reproduce those performances since returning to Madrid.

Diomande’s Presence Increases Competition

His difficulties have been compounded by the emergence of Diomande, who has provided Mourinho with another attacking option on the left flank.

The youngster’s performances have increased competition for places, leaving Vinicius facing a genuine battle to retain his position in the starting line-up.

The development has reportedly created an uncomfortable situation for the Brazilian, who has been accustomed to being one of the first names on the team sheet.

Mourinho is also understood to be facing a delicate challenge in managing the forward.

While Vinicius has struggled to make the desired impact, his reported frustration at being substituted or left out of the team has complicated matters for the Portuguese tactician.

The situation is particularly sensitive because of the player’s relationship with club president Florentino Perez, who sanctioned his lucrative contract renewal.

With Madrid having made a significant financial commitment to the Brazilian, the club will be hoping he can rediscover the form that established him among Europe’s leading attackers.

Meanwhile, Vinicius will be unavailable for Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona as he continues to serve a domestic suspension.
