Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign Mauro Icardi after Everton’s pursuit of the experienced striker failed to produce an agreement.
The 33-year-old remains without a club following his departure from Galatasaray, despite attracting interest from several European sides during recent months.
Tottenham’s reported interest comes after their 3-1 victory over Coventry City lifted Roberto De Zerbi’s struggling side out of the relegation zone.
According to reports relayed by TyC Sports from Turkish outlet Fanatik, as reported by football fan cast, Tottenham are among seven European clubs monitoring Icardi’s situation.
The Argentine forward has scored 250 career goals, while Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk previously described him as a ‘football icon’.
Everton were previously linked with Icardi, with David Moyes’ side reportedly considered strong contenders before negotiations failed to produce a transfer.
The striker has reportedly maintained his fitness through individual training in Argentina, but financial demands and competing club priorities have complicated his search.
Tottenham already possess Dominic Solanke, while Omar Marmoush and Mathys Tel provide additional attacking options under De Zerbi.
