Georges Mikautadze, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, showcased his class in the Champions League on Tuesday, and his latest display will not have gone unnoticed in North London.

It has been widely reported that replacing Richarlison with another number nine is Tottenham’s top priority in January, which is not surprising, given that Omar Marmoush and Dominic Solanke have scored just one league goal each so far this season.

It has been claimed that Villarreal striker Georges Mikautadze is one of the players on Spurs’ radar on the back of his impressive rise over the last 18 months.

The Georgian international, who can also play as a ten and off the left, has 19 goals and eight assists in 54 appearances since joining the La Liga club from Lyon in the summer of 2025.

His latest strike will be of particular interest to Spurs as it came against top-class Premier League opposition.

Tottenham target Georges Mikautadze scores against Liverpool

Liverpool came back from two goals down to win 4-3 at Anfield in the Champions League on Tuesday, and it was the Tottenham target who struck first.

With just four minutes on the clock, Mikautadze capitalised on an error by Virgil van Dijk, who looked to head the ball back to his goalkeeper.

The Georgian international was the first to the ball, and he took a lovely first touch to bring the ball down before finishing superbly into the far corner from a tight angle.

The goal takes Mikautadze’s goal tally to four in 12 matches this season, with the 25-year-old also having two assists to his name.

Why Spurs are unlikely to move for Mikautadze in January

While Mikautadze primarily leads the line for Villarreal, it is unclear if he can do so on his own in the Premier League.

The former Lyon man is not too dissimilar in profile to Omar Marmoush, and one would expect De Zerbi’s men to go for an out-and-out target man instead.

Vangelis Pavlidis, Roberto Fernandez, Igor Matanovic and Jean-Philippe Mateta are thought to be on Spurs’ radar, which perhaps gives us an idea of the kind of centre-forward the Lilywhites are after.
